All thats required is ‘IF’
I continue to meet Christians that feel a dissatisfaction, they have a hunger for God to move in power in our churches and beyond. I also feel this dissatisfaction. I was in a prayer meeting just the other day and we felt that our response to this is a real call to seek God together.
I read in a book today that “Spiritual growth is impossible apart from the practice of prayer’ – Kenneth Boa
God will reconnect with the world, but it won’t be through science, government or technology but it will be through a people of prayer.
I was led to 2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The word ‘humble‘ is a challenge here, for me it means admitting that we need help, it means saying that we are unable to meet all our needs and that we don’t have all the answers to the issues that life throws at us.
Also the word ‘IF’ in this scripture is a key factor, it means we have to make the choice to play our part in talking to God, seeking His face. This means not being lazy and making the time to meet together and pray.
If we are His people, you would think that we would be communicating with Him on a regular basis.
I also read that pride increases when prayer decreases. Essentially we are saying, we don’t need you God. we can do this in our own strength. This is a dangerous place to be and one that we cannot afford to stay in.
I have heard it said that we have no relationship with God without prayer.
The above scripture is talking about a united prayer, a call to come together, humble ourselves, to remember that we are in total need of God in all areas of our life, seeking Him to move and a total lifestyle change both as a church and a people.
When we do this, God moves, revivals start and lives are transformed.
All that’s required is ‘IF’
