WHOLEHEARTED
As a Mother I know how pleased I am when my kids obey. Our Heavenly Father, God, is the same. Sometimes I find it difficult trying to do what I know is His will, His way, and it can be a struggle. On the one hand my love for God is wholehearted and I want to please Him, yet on the other hand there are my wrong attitudes.
God is pleased by obedience, but how much more of a blessing we are to him and others if we do it wholeheartedly. If our wrong attitudes were never challenged and we found it all easy, we could never be changed and perfected into the image of Christ, shining brighter to reflect His Glory and character.
Romans 6:16-18 New International Version (NIV)
16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
